2024 will mark the 30th year of Melanie Potvin’s dedication to the profession of Nursing and Nursing leadership. Over the last 18 plus years in leadership, she has established a reputation for transforming struggling teams into top performers in the delivery of exceptional patient centric health care. Specifically, supporting teams to innovate in the interest of achieving excellent clinical outcomes, patient experience, value for money, and enhancing the clinician experience. Her philosophy is centered around engaging interdisciplinary front-line teams to harness their expert clinical knowledge in co-designing care.
Under her leadership, hospitals have achieved such accolades as most improved Emergency Department wait times in the Province of Ontario and been featured in Inside Halton and Toronto star publications for improving access to care for patients with moderate to severe Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (INSPIRED COPD integrated care model). Melanie has also been recognized for her leadership in the Canadian Hospital News publications “5th annual Nursing Hero Awards 2010”
